The students in Mrs. Kiser’s Intro to Business and Money Management classes are working diligently on their final projects for the first semester. The students have designed the floor plan of their dream home along with all the amenities. They are to determine total square footage, create a detailed description of each room, and calculate the total cost of their home at move-in ready condition.

Ohio University’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Southern State Community College will offer a workshop entitled “Listening to Your Business” on Jan. 21 and 31 on the South Campus of Southern State Community College in Sardinia.

The cadets of Southern State Community College’s Basic Peace Officers Training Program were recognized at a special ceremony held Dec. 15, 2010, at the college’s Fayette Campus in Washington Court House.

An information session on the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program is planned at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27 in Shawnee State University’s new Education Building at 945 Fourth Street, Room 126.

The program is an AmeriCorps Education Award Program. Students who are involved in this program will receive an education award to use toward tuition, or federally funded student loans, in return for community service.

In 1994, Congress passed the King Holiday and Service Act, officially designating MLK Day as a national day of service. Each year, people across the United States come together around the King holiday to serve in their communities to honor King in the MLK Challenge Day.
