Students and staff in the Bright Local School District returned to their classes this past Wednesday, and are excited to get back in the swing of things this fall. This fall, both the high school, and elementary will be working together to staff the Bright Food Pantry located in the old Concord School House.

The Wilmington Institute for Lifelong Learning (WILL) is planning nearly two-dozen seminars this fall ranging from winemaking and ballroom dancing to public speaking, photography and writing.

Chatfield College has received reaccreditation for a period of 10 years by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This is the maximum possible time frame that accreditation can be extended.

Classes for students attending McClain High School will begin on Thursday, August 18, 2011.

Heather Mountjoy, a graduate of Lynchburg-Clay High school in Lynchburg, Ohio is the winner of the Chatfield College High School Honors Scholarship.  This scholarship is awarded in recognition of excellence in academics, leadership and community involvement.

District have announced the 2011-12 program year policy for free and
reduced-price meals for students unable to pay the full price of meals
served under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program.

Southern State’s AOC was named as one of the recipients of Dollar General’s Adult Literacy Grant which provides funding to nonprofit organizations that provide direct service to adults in need of literacy assistance. To qualify for the grant, an organization must provide help in adult basic education, general education diploma presentation, and English language acquisition.
