To help fund a new arts scholarship at Southern State Community College, last summer the Lake Waynoka Civic Club and the Ohio Plein Air Society held an arts auction at the Lake Waynoka Art Festival in Brown County.

Hillsboro Primary and Early Childhood Center is a Project MORE school, which uses community mentors to help children learn to read.  Volunteers can be business people, senior citizens, junior/high school students, parents, etc.

Southern State Community College has released its president’s and dean’s lists for academic excellence for fall quarter 2010. To be eligible for the president’s list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours. Those who achieve the dean’s list are also full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

Ohio Board of Regents Chancellor Eric D. Fingerhut announced on Wednesday, Dec. 15 the second Ohio Center of Excellence in the category of Cultural and Societal Transformation, Immersive Technology at Shawnee State University.
