At the inaugural New Year’s Hardwood Classic held Saturday at the Southern State Community College’s Patriot Center, Fairfield sophomore Brody Smith put on an impressive showing, including a second-half run of scoring 19 consecutive Fairfield points en route to a 53-30 win for the Lions.

The third annual Chad Hodson Classic was held Saturday afternoon at Fairfield High School’s Grandle Gymnasium to honor and celebrate the life of Chad Hodson and his message of having the “ultimate teammate.” 

The Fairfield Lions had to battle for their Southern Hills Athletic Conference win on Friday night against the Whiteoak Wildcats to start the 2025 calendar year. 

Monday the Hillsboro Lady Indians showcased why they are an improved team this season, as they went to Leesburg and defeating the host Fairfield Lady Lions 59-34 in their Highland County rivalry game at Grandle Gymnasium.

Everything went the way of the Fairfield Lions in the first half Friday night against the Fayetteville Rockets, as the Lions played outstanding defense in front of their home crowd and were hot from beyond the arc, holding a 15-point lead at halftime.
