It took only one goal and a lot of aggressive defense, but the Fairfield Lions overcame their past in district semifinal games with a one-goal win over the No. 7 seeded Eastern Lady Warriors in their Division III SE District Semifinal game Monday night at Hillsboro High School.
The No. 2 seeded Fairfield Lady Lions are sectional champions in Division III of the SE District, and they did so by defeating the visiting No. 15 seeded Piketon Redstreaks, 10-0 in one half of soccer at FHS.
Whiteoak’s Landen Eyre was the leader of the pack on Saturday (Oct. 14), as he was the winner for a third consecutive year at the Southern Hills Athletic Conference Championships, and the Fairfield Lions were the winners of the boys SHAC championship.
The Fairfield Lady Lions are champions of the Division II Southern Hills Athletic Conference, as they finished the regular season with a 12-1 SHAC record after defeating the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats Thursday night.
It was a chilly night on the McClain field Monday night when the Tigers boys varsity soccer team played county rival Fairfield, and after 80 minutes of exciting, competitive action, McClain emerged with a hard-earned 3-1 victory.
