Wilmington College senior Mercedes M. Norris of Lynchburg is serving as president of the Activities Programming Board.

Wilmington College announced Wednesday the appointment of Dr. James Reynolds as the institution’s 18th president.

SSCC Theatre proudly presents Moisés Kaufman's "The Laramie Project" playing March 2-4 in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The Friday and Saturday performances will begin at 7:30 p.m., and the Sunday matinee will begin at 3:30 p.m.

Kenneth Ross Greer, the son of Judge Kevin and Kristy Greer, has been named to the Fall 2011 semester dean's list at Capital University School of Law.

Southern State Community College's fifth graduating class in the respiratory care program was honored during a recent ceremony on the college's Central Campus in Hillsboro. Eighteen students successfully completed the program which began in 2005 and graduated its first class in 2007.

Southern State Community College will host the statewide college financial aid event "College Goal Sunday" 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, on the college's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

Hillsboro FFA had three graduates who recently received their American Degrees. This degree is awarded to FFA  members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE).

Lynchburg-Clay High School has announced its honor rolls for the second nine weeks of the 2011-12 grading period.

Researchers from Ohio University's George V. Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and the Russ College of Engineering and Technology partnered with researchers from The Ohio State University's Center for Resilience in the College of Engineering and John Glenn School of Public Affairs to complete work on a first-of-its-kind comprehensive study of how Ohio could be affected by such policies.
