Explore a nursing career at PACCAR open house Dec. 9

Wright State University and Southern State Community College are partnering with the Adena Health System in presenting an open house for those interested in pursuing their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.
The event will be held from noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the PACCAR Medical Education Center on the campus of the Adena Medical Center. Academic advisers will be on hand to review transcripts and answer questions.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for men and women in southern Ohio to pursue their nursing education,” said Denise Minor, Adena’s Chief Nursing Officer.
“The BSN program was created to increase the number of baccalaureate-degree nurses in this region,” she said.
Since the opening of PACCAR in 2008 and the establishment of a BSN program there, more than two dozen nurses have graduated with BSNs. A number of those have found work at Adena, while others have pursued their careers elsewhere.
The open house enables prospective students to learn about both Wright State and Southern State. While WSU instructors provide nursing instruction, SSCU instructors help to prepare students needing prerequisite course.
Along with that nursing program, an MSN program is scheduled to launch soon in PACCAR.
Adena Health System, in collaboration with Ohio University, will offer both Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner educational programs. Students completing the necessary course work will receive Master of Science in Nursing degrees.
