Southern State Community College's Patri-Tots Learning Center announces sponsorship of the USDA-funded Child and Adult Care Food Program. Meals are available to all enrolled participants without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability and will be served at no separate charge.

Southern State Community College has released its president's and dean's list for academic excellence for the summer quarter. To be eligible for the president's list, a student must maintain a 4.0 grade point average while carrying a minimum of 12 academic credit hours. Those who achieve the dean's list are also full-time students who have earned at least a 3.5 grade point average out of a possible 4.0.

The students and teachers in grades 6-12 in Hillsboro City Schools have been quietly making great academic strides. Both Hillsboro Middle School and Hillsboro High School earned Excellent ratings from the Ohio Department of Education for academic performance for the 2008-2009 school year. The state report card designates HMS Excellent for the first time and HHS Excellent for the second year in a row. HHS met all 12 indicators and earned a Performance Index Score of 100, while HMS not only met the expected growth for AYP but has exceeded it for the past three years.

Southern State Community College is taking a proactive approach to H1N1 influenza concerns on campus. The college issued to all employees a Pandemic Influenza Emergency Response Plan, which covers communication strategies, containment intervention strategies, and a plan for recovery and continuity of essential operations.
