In an abbreviated Thanksgiving Eve board meeting Wednesday, Nov. 23, Highland County commissioners Shane Wilkin, Jeff Duncan and Tom Horst passed a series of resolutions, including a refinancing of the Highland County Justice Center bond that could save as much as $53,000.

Hillsboro Safety and Service Director Todd Wilkin's employment with the city of Hillsboro has ended – less than two weeks after he testified against Hillsboro mayor Drew Hastings in Highland County Common Pleas Court.

The Highland County Poultry Judging Team represented Ohio 4-H at the National 4-H Poultry & Egg Conference in Louisville, Ky. The team placed third overall in the market egg competition.

The Stock Company Building at 107 South Apple Street was erected in 1849 by a stock company formed by several members of Georgetown Masonic Lodge who named the building The Masonic Block although the building was not a lodge project. The lodge moved to the third floor of the building soon after it was completed and remained there until about 1902. A painted Masonic symbol is still on the ceiling of the old meeting room.

A jury trial for former Highland County Visitors Bureau director and Hillsboro city commissions member Bob Lambert that had been scheduled for Dec. 12 in the United States District Court, Southern District of Ohio (Cincinnati), has been continued until next year.

Many Hillsboro community activities were started by Dorothy Hodson, including the Christmas lighting of the courthouse, the City of Hillsboro Christmas lighting, the Highland County Children and Adult Telethon (for which she served 25 years), the Highland County National Day of Prayer, the War Memorial Committee and the Festival of Bells (for which she served from 1985-1995).

Following a recommendation by Steve Canter of Environmental Engineering Services in Lebanon, Highland County commissioners Shane Wilkin, Tom Horst and Jeff Duncan voted 3-0 to approve a $1.50 monthly rate increase for the Rocky Fork Lake Wastewater District.
