Bell Gardens Place is currently preparing for their second annual Festival of Trees, and event organizers Michael Bradford and Ida Juillerat are encouraging local businesses and individuals to decorate a Christmas tree and to attend an auction to bid on the trees.

The expansion of the existing Emergency Department at Highland District Hospital is reaching the completion of its first phase. Phase 1 of the project involves expanding the current parking lot, and building and finishing the exterior of the 4,400-square-foot addition.

The Hillsboro High School FFA Greenhouse Management class is having their annual poinsettia sale. From the start of the school year, the greenhouse class has been learning how to take care of and manage a greenhouse. They have been caring for poinsettias for a class project. They are learning marketing and advertising, sales and public relations.

The Christmas Home Tour, sponsored by the U.S. Grant Homestead Association, will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4 from noon-5 p.m. The tour begins at the Thompson House Gallery, 203 East Grant Avenue where you can buy tickets and pick up a tour packet.
