  • Lisa Klein speaks to local students

    In April and May, Hillsboro High School 9th-graders read the novel "Two Girls of Gettysburg," and students met the Ohio author and former Ohio State professor Lisa Klein. Ms. Klein conducted a morning presentation in which she asked students to look at pictures and guided them through a writer’s workshop.

    The Area 5 Soil and Water Conservation District held their Annual Envirothon on May 9, 2012 at Slate Run Metro Park in Pickaway County. The competition focused on forestry, soils, wildlife, aquatics and environmental issues. During the contest, teams travel to four 20 minute ecosystem stations to test their knowledge in the field.

    Three Miami Trace graduates were among the 11 young Ohioans who were recently named recipients of $1,000 college scholarships from the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation.

    The April students of the month from Buckskin were: Faythe Crabtree, Azalea O'Connor, Lukas Goldsberry, Kyler Williams, Chase Williamson and Tanner Countryman. They were treated to lunch at McDonald’s with their principal, Mr. Shumate.

  • SSCC's sign language class to perform June 5 concert
    Students completing two years of Southern State Community College's sign language coursework will perform an ASL concert "Shrek Idol" 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on the college's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

  • 'Annie' auditions May 25-26 at Southern State
    SSCC Theatre will host open auditions for the upcoming summer production of "Annie." Auditions, open to students and community members, will be held for adults 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 25, and for children 10 a.m. Saturday, May 26, in the Edward K. Daniels Auditorium on Southern State Community College's Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.
