SSCC Patri-Tots in Hillsboro earns perfect rating

By
Kris Cross-

The Patri-Tots Learning Center at Southern State Community College's Central Campus in Hillsboro has earned a 100-percent licensing compliance inspection rating with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. This is the second time the center has earned a perfect score.

The ODJFS's Bureau of Child Care & Development makes sure the state's childcare centers follow a strict set of rules, policing student/teacher ratios, food and nutrition requirements, emergency procedures and equipment safety, as well as background checks and educational requirements of the center's teachers.

"We are very pleased," said Kathe Chaney, Site Administrator. "To receive this excellent rating not once, but twice, is a testament to the high quality reputation of early childhood education that our parents and families are so proud of."

Southern State houses Patri-Tots Learning Centers at Central Campus in Hillsboro and North Campus in Wilmington. Both child learning centers are licensed by the ODJFS and accept children from 18 months to 5 years. Each center is open year 'round Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and serves not only Southern State students, faculty and staff, but also members of the community.

"In addition to our staff-teachers Stephanie Habig, Dawn Mapes and Margaret Clark, and aides Heather Colthar, Meranda Saxon and Lindsay Mullenix-I would like to thank Karee Shaw and the staff of our sister center in Wilmington," said Chaney. "Without everyone's hard work and dedication, this high rating would not have been possible."
