Hillsboro Elementary student council discusses first quarter

Hello, my name is Kira Pettyjohn, and I am the news reporter for the Hillsboro Elementary Student Council. We have talked about all kinds of things to help our school be better.
First, our campus. Mia Keeton, a student council representative, said that her parents thought that the campus needs more. What they mean by "needs more" is something like flowers or bushes … something to make our school stand out.
Next, we have done candy grams. If the students’ parents let them, they will bring in money to buy candy grams for a friend or teacher. Student Council officers will getting those passed out soon.
Also, we collected Boxtops for Education. We had a contest, and Mrs. Butler’s fifth grade class and Mrs. Horick’s fourth grade class won, so they received a popcorn party. Congratulations to those classes! We collected over 7,000 boxtops altogether.
Then, we talked about bullies. Hillsboro Elementary wants to be a bully-free environment because no one wants to be bullied. So, if you are a Hillsboro Elementary student, don’t worry about being bullied.
Lastly, we are using fleece donated by the Junior Women’s Club to make blankets for Highland District Hospital.
