    A grand slam attempt at predicting the '12 MLB season

    For the past few years, some of my friends and myself like to predict the upcoming baseball season by predicting the win-loss record of every team, the division standings, the entire season and the end-of-year award winners. Sometimes I'm right … most of the time I'm incorrect ... but this is what I believe will happen in '12. (Let me know what you think.)

    The Fairfield Lady Lions opened the '12 Southern Hills League softball season exactly where they left off last season: at the top of the Southern Hills League standings. In their Tuesday gams with the Peebles Lady Indians, FHS dominated with a 17-2 victory at FHS.

    Trout derby, fun shoot set for April 7 weekend
    A trout derby and fun shoot will be held at the Rocky Fork State Park campground docks on April 7 (rain date: April 8) for children ages 15 and under. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. Fishing will take place from 1-4 p.m., and shooting will take place from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    In the process of starting a new era of Hillsboro Lady Indian softball, the first game of that era didn't go so well for the home team. HHS lost their season opener to visiting Unioto, 29-7 Monday at Alice Cassner Field.
