Tigers fall to Braves in season opener

GREENFIELD — The McClain Tigers opened their '12 baseball season with an 8-2 loss at home against the Logan Elm Braves on Tuesday night.
Senior Ryan Case pitched well in the season opener, working five innings. Case struck out nine and walked five, while allowing two earned runs.
Junior Jordan Boles pitched the final two innings for the Tigers, allowing three earned runs.
The Tigers (0-1) garnered just four hits on the night, coming off the bats of Brent Shannon, Zach Puckett, Kyle Flora and Cameron Spangler.
MHS plated two runs in the sixth, with Boles and Puckett scoring on a Logan Elm error and a hit by Spangler.
"We played a decent game. We hit the ball hard, and (Ryan) Case had a great first start," McClain head coach Brandon Streitenberger said. "At one point, he struck out six batters in a row. We just couldn't find the gaps tonight."
McClain hosts Madison-Plains tomorrow in their South Central Ohio League opener at Mitchell Park in Greenfield.
