The Hillsboro Lady Indians' return to the court following the holiday break didn't go their way much on Wednesday evening at Hillsboro High School. Their opener was to the one-loss Fayetteville Lady Rockets, and they took home a 59-21 victory in the non-league game.

A five-point second quarter by the McClain Tigers was enough for them to be unable to defend their home court against the Washington Blue Lions, falling 48-43 Tuesday in a South Central Ohio League showdown.

It took over a half, but the Hillsboro Indians managed to grind away the rust of 11 days without a game in the final quarter, taking complete control against the Madison-Plains Golden Eagles. The Indians gained their advantage from multiple players, but it was 10 straight points from Hillsboro senior Tyrand Cumberland in a span of just over two minutes that set the stage for a 60-45 South Central Ohio League win by the Indians on Tuesday at HHS.

In their first meeting on Dec. 16 at WHS, the Mustangs topped the Wildcats 60-53.

Miami Trace, now 0-18, had a terrific chance to win their first game of the season on their home court, Friday, Feb. 3, 1989. The McClain Tigers came to town. The two teams heated the gymnasium with a torrid, bruising battle that was, eventually, won by the invaders from Greenfield, 84-78, in two overtimes.

The McClain varsity wrestling team competed in a tri-match against Cincinnati North College Hill and the host team, the East Clinton Astros. The Tigers would compete in the second and third rounds, sweeping the event on Thursday.

After slowly building a first-half lead of 12 points, the Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs bolted away in the third frame on Thursday night in the nightcap of the 2011-12 Wilkin Scholarship Tournament. A 22-point third quarter eventually led to a 70-48 win over the Paint Valley Bearcats.

After losing their last five games since their season-opening win, the McClain Tigers were back on the right side of the scoreboard on Thursday night. Scoring in double figures in each quarter, the Tigers defeated the Adena Warriors 54-31 at McClain High School.

A third-quarter rush of points and defense, along with multiple slam dunks by junior Doc Seip, were more than enough for the Whiteoak Wildcats on Thursday evening in the opener of the 2011-12 Wilkin Scholarship Tournament. WHS used their second half to break away for a 66-50 victory against the Clermont Northeastern Rockets.
