The Hillsboro Uptown Business Association is currently holding a membership drive to encourage new and renewed support by memberships for the organization to continue to promote uptown Hillsboro.

Hillsboro resident Anita Foley will share pictures and stories of her recent mission trip to Colombia during a luncheon at the Hillsboro First United Methodist Church, 133 East Walnut St., on Dec. 11 from noon - 1 p.m.

Rite Aid Pharmacy in Hillsboro has added a new registered pharmacist to its professional staff. Erin Stafford, a Hillsboro native, has joined Amy Williams and Marc Queen as the third pharmacist, along with several certified pharmacy technicians.

The final days of Christmas at the Cabin for 2011 are quickly approaching (Dec. 18 being the final day).

The village of Lynchburg will host its 19th Annual Village Christmas this year on Dec. 9 and 10 from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. both days.

The Hillsboro Chapter of Aglow International will hold their November/December joint meeting Monday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church at 127 South West Street in Hillsboro (meeting location for this month only)

The Highland County Democratic Women and the Highland County Democratic Central and Executive Committee will hold their annual joint carry-in Christmas Dinner and Auction on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the County Administration Building.

The Hillsboro Garden Club held its monthly meeting at the Floral Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 15. President Larry Moore called the meeting to order. All members recited The Pledge of Allegiance.

The SATH (Supplementary Assistance to the Handicapped) organization will be sponsoring its 16th annual "Breakfast With Santa" on Saturday, Dec. 3 at its new location, the Hillsboro Elementary School Cafeteria.

The Highland County Board of Elections will hold their monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 a.m. at the Board of Elections Office. This will also involve the official count from the Nov. 8 general election. The public is welcome to attend.

Gary Smith of Lynchburg was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Lynchburg Historical Society.

The November meeting of the Lynchburg Three Arts Club was held at the country home of Rebecca Davidson.

The Leesburg Library Merry Money Store will be open from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. Please bring your child and their Merry Money during your pre-assigned shopping time to purchase gifts. The elves will be here to assist your children with their Christmas shopping while parents can enjoy browsing the library and munching on some holiday refreshments.
