The New Petersburg Social Civics Club meeting was called to order by vice president Malinda Wells on Jan. 12 at Fall Creek Friends Church. She introduced the new officers for 2012. Roll call was answered by paying dues. Minutes of the December meeting were read, and a treasurer's report was given.

Business for the day was thank-you cards read from Edgewood Manor for bingo gifts. Thank-you cards were also read for cards, flowers and a special donation was included in one thank-you note for a recent trip.

Highland House decorations were returned to members, and a committee was appointed to list suggestions for the trip in September. That new committee includes Cora Hamilton, Glenna Ross and Debbie Ellison.

A card was signed for Phyllis Miller. Chris Tolbert announced that the next meeting will be Feb. 9 at noon. She will be serving lunch at Fall Creek Friends Church.

The program was by Mary Ann Larkin. She read from "Mother Goose Tells the Truth About Middle Age." She did a Mad Lib and had 1918 newspaper clippings about New Petersburg.

Ruth Ann Watts presented an easy contest of everyone guessing the number of caramels. The winner was Wells. The birthday raffle brought by Ellison was won by Ross.

Secret sister gifts were received by Margaret Crabtree, Wanda Green, Patty Detty, Verla Hodson and Bea Mustard.

The hostess gift was won by Wells. Refreshments were served by Debbie Robinson, the hostess and catered by Tolbert. Blessing was given by Ellison.

Those in attendance other than those named were Janet Campbell, Vickie Duff, Anna Lou Lucas and Marion Dodds.[[In-content Ad]]
