As of the first of the new year, four healthcare providers who already are familiar faces in the Greenfield area will join the Adena Health System – working in the same community. Dr. Richard Mizer, Dr. Christina DeLand and Nurse Practitioners Michele Dodds and Debra Wolf are leaving the HealthSource of Ohio office in Greenfield to partner with Adena.

The Ohio Cattlemen’s Association will host its District 11 meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 18. The meeting will be at the Southern State Community College Appalachian Gateway Center in Sardinia beginning with a light meal at 6 p.m. followed by the program at 6:30 p.m.

Jim Mootz Trucking LLC, held its annual safety awards meeting on Dec. 10. The annual meeting was hosted by Gibbs Insurance Associates, their local Independent Insurance Agency and held at The “Old Y” Restaurant.

In the last two weeks of January 1937, cities along the Ohio River faced one of the worst floods in its history. Flood levels in southern Ohio reached nearly 80 feet. Parts of Cincinnati were underwater 19 days. Ten people died and more than 50,000 people lost their homes and businesses causing more than $20 million in damages. In Portsmouth, one woman drowned saving her baby.

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 (AAA7) can help older adults and others in its district access Ohio’s Assisted Living Waiver more quickly thanks to recent program changes. These changes, written by the Ohio Department of Aging and approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, mean that anyone living in the community, who meets Medicaid eligibility, can access the program.
