    The New Petersburg Social Civics Club meeting was called to order by vice president Malinda Wells on Jan. 12 at Fall Creek Friends Church.

    The Highland County Democratic Party will host a "meet the candidates" night on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. in the Highland County Administration Building basement meeting room.
  • Community enjoys 2011 Lynchburg Village Christmas
    The annual Lynchburg Village Christmas was a big success in 2011, according to chairmen/organizers Bill and Angie McTague.vThe 2011 event was held Dec. 9-10 and included a village-wide open house for homes and businesses, free carriage rides and prize giveaways. A total of 39 vendors, including Lynchburg businesses and homes and out-of-town vendors, participated in the event.

    Heartland of Hillsboro is recruiting judges for their 8th Annual Chili Challenge, set for Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m.
  • Sinking Spring UMM soup supper Jan. 21
    There will be a soup supper on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church. The supper will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until sold out. The event is being sponsored by the Men’s Fellowship Group of the church.

    Christian nights at the Colony theatre in Hillsboro to Feature Lanny Bryant's Gospel Homecoming Show including three of the areas finest Southern Gospel groups. Kindred Spirit, Majestic Sound Quartet, and Soul Purpose will all grace the Colony stage Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.

    Altrusa lost 377 children’s books in the fire on Sunday. They were sorted in boxes for all the schools in Highland County.
