The Ohio State Junior American Citizens Art Contest entries, banner, stamp design, photo essay, and poster, were recently judged by Mary Owenna Reed and Helen Horner, and members of the Highland County Senior Citizen Center art class.
Marilyn Hoaglin is the senior art art director.
Reed said "It was fabulous seeing the inspirations of the students. Judging the art work was an enjoyable experience. They were all winners to me."
The State JAC Creative Expression contest entries, poetry, short story, and community service, were judged by Tammy Combs.
Suzanne Hapner judged the entries at the county level before they were advanced to the state level.
Several entries from the JAC "Buckley Eaglets" Club, and the Lynchburg-Clay, McClain, Rainsboro, and Buckskin Schools were First Place State Winners. These entries will be forwarded to the district level for judging.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution created the JAC Committee to promote good citizenship and appreciation of American heritage and history among every school-age child. All children pre-school through grade 12 are encouraged to participate in contest and JAC Clubs.
This year's contest theme was "Enhance the Present."
