Chapel of Hope hosts
revival Feb. 16-19

   Chapel of Hope, located at 12986 state Route 41 north in Greenfield,
will host a revival featuring evangelist Brian Baer and singing by The
Parsons. The event will be held Thursday, Feb. 16 and Friday, Feb. 17 at
7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m.
Sunday will be Family Rally Day, and there will be a carry-in meal after the
service.

AA meeting Saturdays
in Rainsboro

Ready to talk about alcoholism and its effects on you and your family? The Rocky Fork Lake/Rainsboro area has a new meeting of AA at Rainsboro United Methodist Church, Saturdays from 10-11 a.m.
Starting Feb. 18, bring your issues to a circle of friends who have been there and done that. From Hillsboro, take U.S. 50 east for 10 miles, past the truck stop to Rainsboro and turn left on Route 753 north. It's the first building on left – United Methodist Church.
Enter through the front door.

2002 Whiteoak Wildcats
Final Four recognition

   The Whiteoak Wildcats will recognize team players and coaches from the
2002 Final Four basketball team on Friday, Feb. 17 during halftime of the
varsity game (a group photo of the team players and coaches will be taken).
Players and coaches are invited to attend and stay for a short reception
following the varsity game vs. Fayetteville. If you are a team member or

Buford Community
Church songfest Feb. 18

   Buford Community Church is having a songfest Saturday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.
Many local artist to perform. Alicia Shaffer (Caldwell) from Hillsboro and
featuring the sounds of The Soaring Eagles. There will be light refreshments

Free meal at Greenfield
Presbyterian Church

 The First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield will host their monthly Family to Family Supper on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 4:30-6 p.m. The menu will include chili soup, peanut butter sandwich, cookies, and drink. The meal is free and everyone is invited.

HCAC spring 2012
soccer sign-ups

   HCAC spring 2012 soccer sign-ups will be held Saturdays, Feb. 18, Feb.
25 and March 3 from noon-2 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church gymnasium, 119
E. Walnut St., Hillsboro. The sign-up deadline will be April 2 (after this
date, your child will be put on a waiting list for a team). There will also
be an equipment swap on these days as well.
   The cost will be $30 for ages 4-8, Instructional and Passers
(non-traveling) or $40 for ages 9 and up (Wings and Kickers). If you do not
have an application, they can be picked up from the box at the Liberty Park
concession stand. Please bring a completed form (front and back), along with
a copy of your child’s birth certificate and payment to the sign-ups or mail

Buford Farmers’ Institute
convenes Feb. 24   

It is once again time for the 108th annual Buford Farmers’ Institute.
   This year, it will be held on Friday, Feb. 24 at the Clay Township Park
building in Buford. It will begin at 7 p.m.
   The entertainment this year will be Drew Hastings, a well-known
comedian.
   There will be a dinner served in the gym from 4-6 p.m., with all
proceeds from the dinner going to the Clay Township Park Commission.
   Entries for judging can be submitted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Categories consist of many different baked goods, produce, crafts and arts,
woodworking, antiques and handmade items, such as quilts, embroidery,
needlepoint, etc. plus many more.
   There are some categories for children and adults to enter. All baked
goods and produce will be auctioned off during the evening by Hess Auction
Company.
   Come out and join the Buford Farmers’ Institute on Feb. 24 for good
food, entertainment and many door prizes.

Open Door free meal
   The Open Door free meal at the Greenfield United Methodist Church will
be held on Saturday, Feb. 25. Serving will be from 4-5:30 p.m. The menu is
lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and apple sauce. Everyone is welcome.

Pheasants Forever
banquet Feb. 25    

   The Clinton/Highland No. 540 Chapter of Pheasants Forever will host
their annual banquet on Feb. 25 at the Clinton County Fairground in the
agricultural building in Wilmington. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and dinner
is at 7 p.m. The banquet will include a live auction, silent auction, gun
raffles, door prizes and a buffet meal by McCoy’s Catering. Money raised
will benefit local wildlife projects and the annual youth hunt.

Heartland Chili Challenge
   Heartland of Hillsboro hosts its eighth annual Chili Challenge
Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 2 p.m.
   There are two categories, mild and hot. A winner and second runner-up
will be picked in each category. The first-place winning recipes will be
prepared for all to sample at a Chili Supper and Silent Auction to be held
at the Ponderosa Banquet Center March 8.
   All proceeds will benefit the Highland County Society for Children and

WCH Kiwanis Club
soup supper March 3

   The Washington Court House Kiwanis Club will hold its annual soup supper
on March 3 at the Commission on Aging building at 1179 South Elm St. in
Washington C.H. The menu will include ham and bean, vegetable and potato
soups; corn bread; slaw; assorted desserts; and coffee or iced tea. The cost
is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10.

Boaters safety course
March 31 at Lake Waynoka

   The Waynoka WaterSports Club will be sponsoring an Ohio Boating
Education Course at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 31 at the Lake Waynoka Lodge.
Cost of this course is $5 payable to ODNR Watercraft.

is open for any age and not just Lake Waynoka.

Recovery program
meets on Tuesdays

   The Celebrate Victory Recovery Program meets every Tuesday night at 7
p.m. at ReaLife Church, located at 230 West South Street, Hillsboro.

Alzheimer’s Support
Group meetings

   The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati will sponsor a
Highland County Alzheimer’s/Dementia Family Caregiver Support Group on the
third Monday of each month from 5-6:30 p.m. at Highland District Hospital.

Colony Theater shows
   There will be no Colony Theater Christian show this month. March and
April shows are still scheduled. In March, Prisoners of Hope will be the
band and in April, it will be Jericho 7. Shows are the third Saturday of the

AARP tax aide
provides free assistance
at Senior Center

   Free tax help and preparation service, run by volunteers, will be
available at the Highland County Senior Center every Monday and Tuesday
during the months of February and March starting Feb. 6 from 9:30 a.m. - 2

Eagles host Thursday bingo

   The Hillsboro Eagles host bingo on Thursday nights. Doors open at 5:30
p.m., and games start at 7 p.m.

Loved Ones Group meets
   The Loved Ones Group will present a series of seven CD lessons by Ed
Hughes of the Counseling Center in Portsmouth Thursdays through March 15
from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church, 231 Harry Sauner Road,
Hillsboro. Those who miss a session may get caught up during the following

Young Agricultural Professionals
Leadership Experience March 9-10

   The 2012 Young Agricultural Professionals Leadership Experience will be
held March 9-10 at the Marriott Northwest in Dublin. Farm Bureau members
ages 18-35 who are an agricultural professional are invited to attend. The
cost is $130 per person if reservation is made by Feb. 3. After Feb. 3, the
cost is $150 per person. Scholarships are available. All reservations must

Diabetes information
at Lynchburg Library

Have you been diagnosed with pre-diabetes? Has your doctor told you have
“borderline diabetes?” Do you just want information about how to prevent
diabetes? On March 19, Laura Knisley, a certified diabetes nurse educator,
will present a crash course for preventing diabetes at the Lynchburg Library

St. Mary Catholic School
hosts Texas Hold 'em

St. Mary Catholic School is having a St. Patrick's themed Texas Hold'em
Tournament on March 10. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the tournament will
start at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is $25. $30 at the door. There will be cash
tables, food and drink. Come for a night of fun and support St. Mary School.
