A Hillsboro man has been arrested in Montana after allegations of an attempted robbery at a Dairy Queen in Billings. According to www.ktvq.com, quoting Sergeant Scott Conrad, "Eddie Everhart, of Hillsboro, Ohio, entered the Dairy Queen at 3220 Henesta Drive at 5 p.m. on Sunday and displayed a black handgun to the employee at the cash register who fled from the man through the back of the store.

Weather permitting, crews from ODOT's Highland County maintenance facility will be repairing and paving the northbound lane of Jefferson Street, between Washington Street and McArthur Way, on Monday, Oct. 15.

EMS personnel from area departments participated in continuing education training on Satuday, Oct. 13 at the Highland County Justice Center which was sponsored by the Highland County Firefighters Association. The training subject was titled "Caring For the Thermally Injured Patient," and was instructed by Karen Allard of the Burn Special Care Unit of University Hospital in Cincinnati.

A savings of more than $450,000 could be realized annually by contracting with the Gallia County sheriff for police services. The village’s per hour cost of police service exceeds $40, compared to about $24 for the county.

Highland County resident Fred Boggess asked for a copy of the county's courthouse lawn use policy. Commissioners Wilkin and Horst said there was no written policy. "What is the public supposed to use if there's no written policy?" Boggess asked.

A former secretary currently under indictment for theft is cited for $9,700 in missing funds in an audit report released today for the Clermont County General Health District by Auditor of State Dave Yost.
