Auditor of State Dave Yost today issued a "clean" audit of Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel's office, after a thorough review of accounts and transactions, and an inventory of assets and custodial funds of the state treasury. The audit was conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and revealed no matters of non-compliance, or internal control weaknesses.

James Bally, hearing officer Ohio Division of Liquor Control, presided over a hearing Thursday, April 12 in the Highland County Administration Building, regarding a liquor license application for a former Allensburg tavern. Business owner Christina Gill of Lynchburg has purchased the former Sunnyside Inn on U.S. 50 in Allensburg across from the Allensburg Church of Christ.

For anyone wanting a fun, festive night out, St. Mary Catholic School in Hillsboro will hold a quarter auction and spaghetti dinner at the school on Tuesday, April 24, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Key to this year’s construction program are projects like the intersection improvement at state Route 73 and County Road 18H (Jaybird Road) in Adams County. The $754,673 improvement project, which is slated to begin in early May, will realign the intersection of these two roads and add a left-turn lane, thereby improving safety and the transportation of goods for those traveling onto Jaybird Road.

“One day in a month doesn’t cut it, and these 24 Lake County governments are the first in the state, not merely to recognize that, but to act on it,” Auditor Dave Yost said. “Using an asphalt paver one week in a season just does not make sense. There is money to be saved here, and these governments have decided to go looking for it.”

The Good Hope Lions Club donated the profits generated from the Christmas candy sales and the semi-annual pancake-sausage suppers to the local high schools for college scholarship funds, Lion sight-saving programs, local needs for eyeglasses and many local charities.
