Two arrested on theft, forgery charges

On Thursday at 7:22 a.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call of a theft of a purse from a vehicle that had stopped at the Speedway gas station on North High St.
Through the course of investigation, a description of the suspects and their vehicle were obtained. Later in the morning, the vehicle was located by police, and the subjects were identified as Eric Wayne Royster of Peebles and Regina I. Braden of Mount Orab.
As the investigation continued, the couple were found to be in possession of items from the stolen purse from Speedway as well as mail stolen from mailboxes. It was also determined that personal checks from the stolen purse had been forged, and the couple had attempted to cash the checks at a local bank. The couple had also used a credit card from the stolen purse to make other purchases.
The couple were taken into custody and transported to the Highland County Justice Center. Royster has been charged with theft, tampering with evidence and complicity to forgery. Braden has been charged with complicity to theft, misuse of a credit card and forgery.[[In-content Ad]]
