The Highland County Press
The first day of winter arrived in seasonal fashion Friday, with colder temperatures, snow, wind and patches of ice on area roadways.
Hillsboro City Schools, Bright Local Schools and the Hillsboro Christian Academy both closed Friday. For all the closings and delays, click on the Delays and Closings link.
The Ohio Department of Transportation crews in District 9 have been dispatched this morning to treat for snow and ice.
Crews from the highway maintenance facilities in Adams, Brown and Highland counties are working to plow and treat routes on the state highway system, where pavement conditions vary from lightly to mostly snow covered. All roadways are very slick and prone to freezing, especially bridges which have colder surface temperatures.
Motorists are reminded of the need for additional caution when traveling today, allowing for additional travel and stopping time.
