Greenfield Village Council moved this week to enter into discussions with Highland County Court/Madison Township court administrator Ron Coffey as a possible successor to retiring city manager Betty Bishop.

Coffey was one of dozens of applicants for the position.

"I’m honored to have been presented with this opportunity to serve the community of Greenfield," Coffey said.

"I wish to thank everyone who has encouraged me in this process, and look forward to the New Year with excitement and optimism."

According to his resume, since 1997, he has served as court administrator.

Coffey has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University and is a graduate of McClain High School.

In addition, he has served as the chairman of the Adena Greenfield Medical Center Board of Trustees since 1989 and has been on that board since 1985.

Coffey also has chaired the Greening Greater Greenfield (G3) committee and was a founding member of the Greenfield Foundation, established in 1999 to assist in the Greenfield City Hall renovation.
