The Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs are back on top of the Southern Hills League mountain in boys soccer. The Mustangs clinched the outright Division I SHL soccer championship with a 3-1 win over the Fayetteville Rockets, Friday at Fayetteville High School.

The Southern State Community College Patriots continue to be ranked in the Top 10 in the nation in men's soccer. According to Head Coach Josh Thoroman, the Patriots have been ranked eighth in the nation for two weeks in a row. This ranking is among all colleges competing in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

August had rolled around, the summer break from school was nearly over, and high schools all over southern Ohio were preparing for the 1979-80 football season. At Hillsboro, Coach Jerry Peters had resigned and left town. He had reportedly gone to Canada, where he got completely out of school work, and was making a living in a different line of endeavor.
