    In the night cap of the 2011-12 Highland County Girls Basketball Shootout, the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs (though starting slow) controlled the second and third quarters of play for a 47-31 win Wednesday over the Hillsboro Lady Indians at HHS.

    The McClain Lady Tigers traveled to Hillsboro and conquered the Whiteoak Lady Wildcats on Wednesday evening. The game was in Hillsboro for the 7th Annual Highland County Girls Basketball Shootout, as MHS won by a score of 51-15.

    The Hillsboro Indians continued to keep their winning pace on Tuesday night, earning their fifth consecutive victory in close fashion, by defeating the London Red Raiders 67-66 at LHS.
  • Ohio State gets bowl ban in NCAA ruling
    The Ohio State University today received the NCAA’s ruling regarding violations involving its football program. Among the penalties Ohio State had self-imposed was a loss of five scholarships; the NCAA imposed a nine-scholarship penalty, three during each of the next three years.  Additionally, the NCAA has imposed a three-year probation and a post-season ban for the coming year.
  • Lady Mustangs slow down in loss to Peebles
    The two-game winning streak by the Lynchburg-Clay Lady Mustangs was snapped on Monday night, due in large part to a third frame where they were outscored by 13 points. LC was unable to defend their home court in a 58-46 Southern Hills League loss to the Peebles Lady Indians.

    The McClain varsity wrestling team competed in the two-day, 11-team Blanchester Duals on Dec. 16-17 as the Tigers wrestled a total of nine dual meets in two days.

They gambled in the final frame in their quest to take the lead, but in the end, the Western Brown Lady Broncos were too strong as they defeated Hillsboro 58-40 Monday night in a non-league game at HHS.
