  • Wee Care Christian Preschool hosts Mother's Day program

    On Friday, May 7, from 11:30 a.m.-noon, the children at Wee Care Christian Preschool will pay tribute to their moms with a Mother’s Day program.
  • 55th reunion planned for former C.A.M.P. attendees
    In 1956, a unique camping program for young people was created by Dave and Janny Brizius. Originally an outreach of the Gahanna Community Church, the program, greatly expanded and no longer affiliated with one particular church, and now called C.A.M.P., is ongoing, with the Briziuses still heading it. The new name stands for Constructing Assured and Motivated People.

  • Did You Know?
    The Third Fleet was forming during WWII on March 15, 1943 under the command of Admiral William F. Halsey. Its onshore headquarters, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, was established on June 15, 1944. The fleet operated in and around the Solomon Islands, the Phillippines, Taiwan, Okinawa, and the Ryukyu Islands with the USS New Jersey and from May 1945 to the end of the war, the USS Missouri as its flagship. It also operated in Japanese waters, launching attacks on Tokyo, the naval base at Kure, and the island of Hokkaido.

    The Triple-L 4-H Club met Sunday, April 18 at the home of adviser Jaime Simmons. Fourteen members attended the meeting.

    More than 80 people attended the Greenfield Historical Society's Spring Tea held on April 25. The guests were hosted by the Reverend Ricardo Lewis and his wife, Vonya, in their roles as Frederick Douglas Patterson and his daughter-in-law, Kathleen Patterson.
  • Track your Baptist ancestors at the May Southern Ohio Genealogical Society program
    Rev. Timothy Mohon, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, Ohio, will be giving a presentation for the monthly meeting of the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society on Thursday, May 13, 2010 entitled "Tracking Your Baptist Ancestors." Rev. Mohon will share the four areas of Baptist records that are often confusing to researchers so that genealogists can ask the correct questions in dealing with these unique items, as well as revealing various locations to uncover these valuable source materials.

    The February 2010 National Make a Blanket Day for Project Linus was a tremendous success this year. Each year in February, volunteer “blanketeers” try to better their output of blankets by one. Last year’s contribution of blankets for our area of the chapter was 85; this year’s total was 166!
