Track your Baptist ancestors at the May Southern Ohio Genealogical Society program

Rev. Timothy Mohon, Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, Ohio, will be giving a presentation for the monthly meeting of the Southern Ohio Genealogical Society on Thursday, May 13, 2010 entitled "Tracking Your Baptist Ancestors." Rev. Mohon will share the four areas of Baptist records that are often confusing to researchers so that genealogists can ask the correct questions in dealing with these unique items, as well as revealing various locations to uncover these valuable source materials.
Rev. Mohon, who has been with the Greenfield church for the past year, is a graduate of Austin Peay State University (B.S. in history) and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.). He is a past president of the American Baptist Churches of Ohio and is currently the instructor of Baptist History for the ABC of Ohio Leadership Academy.
Rev. Mohon has spent many years researching in the fields of genealogy, local history, and church history and his articles have appeared in various denominational and genealogical publications, including The Hoosier Genealogist, Baptist History and Heritage, and Tennessee Baptist History. He has been privileged to give presentations for national, state, and local historical and genealogical societies and groups.
Rev. Mohon is a member of several historical organizations, including the American Baptist Historical Society, Phi Alpha Theta, and the Ohio Historical Society. He is also a life member of the National Eagle Scout Association.
Locally, Rev. Mohon is a member of the Greenfield Area Ministerial Association, Greenfield Rotary Club, and the Greenfield Historical Society. In addition he is a Webelos Den Leader for Greenfield Cub Scout Pack 190.
The program will be in Room 184 at the central campus of Southern State Community College. Everyone is invited to attend.
