WVNU hosts
voters program
WVNU will be hosting an educational voter program Tuesday, April 27 at 7 p.m. Representatives from the Extension and Soil Conservation offices and levy committees have been invited to speak about their respective levies, along with a representative from the city of Greenfield regarding the repeal of the tax levy.

Night in Song
There will be a free concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 25 by the Portsmouth Christian band By Faith to benefit the group of churches that are bringing Natalie Grant to the Hillsboro Festival of the Bells on July 1. Marshall Ladies Group

Sidesaddle clinic in
Bainbridge April 24
The American Sidesaddle Association and Southern Ohio Ladies Aside will
be hosting a sidesaddle clinic at Under a Shooting Star Farm near Bainbridge
on April 24 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Participants will learn saddle fit,
sidesaddle history, getting started, and basic to advanced sidesaddle riding
including jumping. Cost is $30 for adult riders, $15 for 18 & under riders,

Mother’s Day dinner
in Sinking Spring
A Mother’s Day dinner will be held at the Brushcreek Community Center in
Sinking Spring on Saturday, May 8. Serving starts at 5 p.m., with
drawing for door prizes at 6 p.m. Menu includes steak, mashed
potatoes, gravy, green beans, rolls, salads, homemade desserts, pop, and
coffee. Freewill donations accepted.
Colony concert April 24
Landon Williams and the Stone Country Band, with various singers & more,
will be performing at the Colony Theater Saturday, April 24. Come see & hear
this great band and group of singers for an evening of good entertainment!
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with showtime at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $8.

A revival will be held at Rainsboro CCCU Wednesday, April 28 through
Saturday, May 1. The Goble Family will be singing, and Roger Newkirk
will be preaching. Services will begin each night at 7.

‘Anything on Wheels’
Festival set for May 23
Strut Your Stuff, an ‘Anything on Wheels’ Festival, will be held
Sunday, May 23 (rain date Saturday, June 5) at the Amvets Post 61 Park,
11541 North Shore Dr., Hillsboro. The event is sponsored by the Southern
Ohio Power Boat Association. Start practicing your game face. Minute To Win
It meets Let's Make A Deal games will be played at the event. There are many
prizes to be won.
Late models, classics, bikes, and specialties are eligible for the
show. Registration will be held 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., with judging at 4
p.m. The event costs $10 in advance or $12 the day of show. A dash plaque
will be given to the first 50 participants. Over 25 trophies are eligible to
be won.
A Poker Run will start at 11 a.m. This costs $7 in advance, $10 day of
show. A parade will be held at 4:30 p.m. following judging.
There will also be a swap meet, farmers’ market, kiddie rides, crafts,
entertainment, and more.

Counterfeit House
auction May 8
After 170 years of history, mystery, and strange tales, the Counterfeit
House near Manchester will be gone by the wayside. Jo Lynn Spires, who owns
the site, has decided that it is time to say goodbye to the once-grand old
manor.
The house was on the History Channel several years ago on a story about
counterfeiting, and that brought a lot of publicity to the place. An auction
will be held Saturday, May 8, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Counterfeit House,
1580 Gift Ridge Road, Manchester. Auctioneer Sam Bolender will be doing the
auction. For more information on the auction, contact Bolender at

Women’s Hall of Fame
nominations sought
The Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame committee is seeking
nominations of outstanding women for induction into the Hall of Fame.
Deadline for submission of nominations is June 1. This marks the 30th year
for the event. This year’s inductees will be honored at a dinner on Tuesday,
Aug. 31 at Southern State Community College.
Nomination forms can be obtained at the Highland County Senior Citizens
Center, Greenfield and Hillsboro Public libraries, the Home Building and
Loan Company in Greenfield, or downloaded from the Highland County Chamber
of Commerce web site, www.highlandcountychamber.com. Send completed
nominations to Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame Committee, P.O. Box 303,
Hillsboro, Ohio 45133, no later than June 1.
To be considered for the Highland County Women’s Hall of Fame, the
nominee must either have been born in Highland County or resided at least
five years in the county. Her accomplishments can either have been outside
or within the county. All nominations are evaluated by judges outside the
area who do not know the candidates, except for the information contained on
the nomination form.
VFW dinner April 30
The men’s auxiliary of VFW Post 9094 will be holding a bean and
cornbread dinner on Friday, April 30 from 4:30-7:30 p.m at the VFW at 1000
W. Main St. in Hillsboro
12th annual fish fry
at Sinking Spring
United Methodist Church
The 12th annual Fish Fry of the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church
will be Saturday, April 24 at the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church.
The fish fry will begin at 4 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m. or sold out. The
event is being sponsored by the Men’s Fellowship Group of the church. The
supper is being held in the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church
in Sinking Spring. Come and enjoy good food, good fellowship and help
support the men’s group in their community service programs.
CROP walk April 25
CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) is sponsoring a walk
at Liberty Park on Sunday, April 25 at 2 p.m. Twenty-five percent will be
divided between Samaritan Outreach, Homeless Shelter, Greenfield Area
Christian Center, and New Life Ministries. For information or to sponsor a

The Open Door free meal at the Greenfield Methodist Church will be held
on Saturday, April 24, from 4-5:30 p.m. The menu will be ham, hash brown

Greater Life Assembly is seeking sponsorships for Kids Camp from Aug.
8-13 at Camp Molly Lauman in Scioto County. The camp is for children in

The annual Highland County Poultry Association Flea Market will be held
May 1-2 at the Highland County Fairgrounds. Many spots will be available

Association, but other food items may be sold. All spots are 10x12; inside
