    The fall season is coming very soon. School has begun.  Summer is just about a memory, and we are planning for the end of the year. We are decorating in oranges and golds, and have a great F-A-L-L prize giveaway – put in a drawing slip each time you visit the library.
  • Helping you age better - What is the AAA7?
    AAA7. You may have seen this acronym or perhaps have heard about it, but what exactly does it stand for?  What does it mean? Although one version of the acronym “AAA” covers automobiles and traveling, the AAA7 stands for the Area Agency on Aging District 7, a non-profit corporation designated by the State of Ohio to be the planning, coordinating and administrative agency for federal and state programs in Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties in Ohio.

  • Third annual Brake for Breakfast to be held Wednesday, Oct. 6
    On Wednesday, Oct. 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m., more than 500 women are again expected to drive through the parking lot at the Foster j. Boyd, MD, Regional Cancer Center for the Third Annual Brake for Breakfast.

    Residents of Crestwood Care Center recently enjoyed a fun-filled morning outdoors on Aug. 6 at Crestwood’s carnival.

  • Four local businesses give to Extension support group
    Four local area businesses, Five Points Implement, Merchants National Bank, NCB Bank, and Sherwood Auto & Camper Sales, have donated $10,000 to the fundraising campaign for the Highland County Extension Support Group.

    Ombudsman Program
        The Ombudsman provides a voice for consumers of long-term care. These consumers include residents of nursing homes, residential care facilities, and adult care homes as well as recipients of “in-home” services.
  • Steps to profitable wheat production
    The month of August has ended and school is back in session. The Highland County Fair is upon us and the college football season is under way. Farmers are already discussing that harvest season as crops are rapidly drying down due to the hot and dry conditions that we have experienced over the past several weeks. Before you know it, fall will be here.

    Hillsboro Garden Club member Rose Marie Cowdrey recently won the 2010 Faye Collins Designer of the Year Award from the Ohio Association of Garden Clubs. Mrs. Cowdrey, a 44-year Garden Club member and past president, received notice of the award from Juanita Wilkins, design study chair, and was honored at the July 12 OAGC banquet.
