SSCC supporting uptown Hillsboro trick-or-treat event

For the past nine years, the Central Campus of Southern State Community College has played to host to hundreds of little “boos” and “ghouls” during the annual Safe Trick-or-Treat event.
This year, however, the college is inviting the county’s costumed children to attend BooFest to be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, in the uptown Hillsboro business district.
A project of the student service organization Students in Action, Safe Trick-or-Treat was first organized in 2002 because, at that time, there was nothing quite like it in the area. Since that time, many groups have begun offering organized trick-or-treating events for the children of the community. Now that other community events have gained momentum, the college felt the time was right to collaborate – rather than compete – with its partners in Hillsboro.
