    Southern State Community College Central campus will be hosting a hands-on, three-part Genealogy workshop. The session will be held on Tuesday evenings, November 1, November 15 and November 29, 6-8 p.m. in the college library at the Central Campus, 100 Hobart Drive, Hillsboro.

    Sinking Spring United Methodist Church will be holding an Election Day dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The dinner will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until 7:30 p.m. or sold out. The event is being sponsored by the United Methodist Women.

    The McClain High School class of 1971 – the 100th graduating class at MHS – had its 40-year class reunion on Oct. 15 at the Greenfield Eagles Lodge.

    The Lynchburg-Clay Veterans Day program will be held Nov. 11 at the high
    school at 6762 state Route 134 South, Lynchburg. Refreshments and snacks
    will be provided from 8-9 a.m., and the program will begin at 9 a.m. Both
    past and present veterans will be recognized. The first row of the
    Lynchburg-Clay High School staff and student parking lot will be reserved
    for veterans.

    Lisa Rhonemus of the Fantastics 4-H Club has been selected to receive the 2011 Mary E. Fisher Outstanding Family and Consumer Science Member Award.
  • Highland Soil and Water Conservation District holds annual meeting
    The annual meeting of the Highland SWCD was held on Oct. 13 at the Hi-TEC in Hillsboro. Ken Alcorn took home top honors at this years’ Annual Meeting by being named the 2011 Cooperator of the year by the Highland SWCD supervisors and staff.
