The descendants of Charles and Ruby Garrison held the 44th annual reunion on Sunday, Sept. 18 at Mitchell Park in Greenfield. There were 87 in attendance.

Prudential Chambers Realty will host their annual open house Friday, Sept. 30 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. This year, the Chambers group will serve pork loins, brats and burgers with all the trimmings. There was no time to waste. We had to race the raccoons and possum to the harvest.  Many of the trees were thin and the fruit no more than fifteen feet off the ground. If we could not reach the higher fruit, one of us would gently bend the thin tree while the other reached for the fruit.

Barbara Zumwalde of Hillsboro has entered two head of Alpine in the dairy goats division of the 38th annual North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).

The Ohio State University Extension, Highland County Office and the Highland District Hospital will be offering a 'dining with diabetes class' series, Oct. 6, 13 and 20 from 6-8 p.m. The classes will be held at the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene Annex, located at 8230 U.S. Route 50, Hillsboro.

The New Petersburg Social Civic Club met at the Rainsboro Methodist Church at noon on Sept. 15 for their anniversary dinner.

The Highland Soil & Water Conservation District’s 69th annual meeting will be held on Oct. 13, at the Highland County Training and Employment Center (Hi-TEC) located at 1575 N. High Street in Hillsboro from 5-7 p.m.

Stacy Leigh Cluxton and Jerod John Michael have announced their engagement and  upcoming marriage.

October 1 is the day of Greenfield Historical Society's fifth annual History Day. Events this year will center around the Underground Railroad and the Civil War. We have made arrangements with Anthony Gibbs, a professional re-enactor from Canal Winchester, to be present and tell the story of John Parker. Mr. Gibbs will also present Parker's story to the fifth grade students at Buckskin and Rainsboro on Sept. 30.
