  • 2010 Highland County Basketball Shootout Schedule

    The annual Highland County Shootout (boys varsity basketball) will be held on Saturday, June 26 at Hillsboro High School. The first game is in the Hillsboro High School gym, second game listed will be played in the Hillsboro Middle School gym.
  • OHSAA to Induct 14 new members into Officials Hall of Fame
    The Ohio High School Athletic Association will welcome 14 officials to the OHSAA’s Officials Hall of Fame during its Hall of Fame Enshrinement and Banquet Saturday, June 19 at Huntington Park in Columbus. It is the 22nd class to be recognized for its outstanding accomplishments and service as officials in a variety of interscholastic sports across the state of Ohio.

    Bronson Arroyo didn't just produce from the mound with a seven inning, one-run outing, but produced runs with his bat and played errorless defense, with the Cincinnati Reds defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers, 7-1 Thursday afternoon.
  • Fuller, Seeling led Tribe in 1975-76
    When the dust had settled, Circleville's talented senior Biff Bumgarner was the league's leading individual scorer for the season, with a per-game average of 21.3 points. Hillsboro's Tim Fuller (19.6) and Rick Seeling (18.7) were second and third, followed by Harvey of McClain (17.3) and Moore of Circleville (16.9).

    Big Ten fans, say hello to our newest friend — Herbie Husker. Though Herbie, the 2006 National Mascot of the Year, is new to the Big Ten, he isn't new to the limelight of the landscape of college football. You see, Herbie is the mascot of the newest member of the Big Ten - the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

    The Lady Mustang Basketball Camp was held from June 1-3 at Lynchburg-Clay High School.
  • Coaching changes usher in 1975 season
    Prior to the beginning of the 1975-76 SCOL basketball season, it was announced that veteran football coach Maurice “Mo” Pfeifer had submitted his resignation to the Washington C.H. board of education. Pfeifer had been the brains behind the success of the Washington football program for 11 years. He had built a record of 68-37-5.

    Dusty Wright is just like hundreds of youngsters who spend their summer playing baseball at Shaffer Park. He runs bases, adjusts his baseball cap and swings the bat each time he sets foot in the batter’s box. But one thing sets Dusty apart from other kids who play baseball in the summer. Like Pete Wyshner (Pete Gray) and Jim Abbott before him, this 12-year-old first baseman plays the game of baseball with just one hand. But not for a moment does he let that be an obstacle or a setback to his athletic goals and dreams.

  • J.R. Moberly returns to HHS courtside as new coach of Lady Indians
    J.R. Moberly has returned to the basketball court to lead a group of Hillsboro Indians once again. The difference is this time he will not be leading the boys varsity team in 2010, but the former boys head coach will be leading the girls team, trying to help a program regain its glory days after winning a handful of games in recent years.

      The Hillsboro girls basketball program will be holding its Lady Indians Basketball Camp from June 14-17.
