Anna's Army made a $15,000 check presentation to the Boomer Esiason Foundation June 16 at the Highland County Courthouse in support of the two organizations' ongoing efforts to combat cystic fibrosis.

Longtime Highland County schoolteacher and advocate for the homeless Valeta Doorneweerd was seriously injured in an auto accident Friday, June 15 along state Route 73, according to a report in the Middletown Journal.

Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss has filed an entry recusing himself from hearing a civil case between the Highland County commissioners and the former director of Highland County Children Services. Additionally, the commissioners have filed a motion with the court asking that the case be dismissed.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will undertake a slip repair project on state Route 41 in Highland County, imparting lane restrictions later this month.

Officers arrived on the scene and after interviewing several witnesses determined the suspect to be Levi C. Smith, 26, of Greenfield. Smith is 5’09”, 150 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants. A warrant has been issued for his arrest charging him with armed robbery, a first degree felony.

A culvert replacement project on state Route 131 in Brown County has been completed, and the route is now open to traffic.

State Route 131 will be closed week next week as Ohio Department of Transportation maintenance forces undertake a culvert replacement project in Highland County.

The Investigative Committee will discuss the Commission’s investigative processes and review several pending investigations and investigation requests. Investigative Committee meetings are closed and confidential, under statutory provision.
