Rosenberger's legislation to simplify wireless 9-1-1 fees passes Ohio House

State Representative Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) has announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed Substitute House Bill 360, which revises the amount and methods of collections and remittance of the wireless 9-1-1 charge for prepaid wireless services, to take effect in 2013.

S.R. 124 closing for culvert replacement

On Monday, May 21, crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Highland County Highway Maintenance Facility will close S.R. 124 West to replace a deteriorated pipe located at the 8.67-mile marker. The project site is situated between Township Road 278 (Fenner Road) and Maple Run Drive near the Hillsboro corporation limit.

Two arrested on drug charges after traffic stop

On May 14 at approximately 10:23 p.m., a Hillsboro police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of North High Street. The male driver was found to be driving under suspension, and the female passenger attempted to exit the vehicle but was ordered to stay in the vehicle by the officer.

An All-American-themed outdoor piano concert and recital was held Saturday, May 12 at the Pool Barn on Route 321 near Mowrystown. The evening started with the singing of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by Pastor Michael Tripp.

With a small majority of residents in attendance at Monday night's Jackson Township trustees' meeting favoring inclusion in the Southern Highland Joint Fire District, trustees Chad Frazer, Steve Edingfield and Brad Hart said they would not make an immediate decision regarding the township's future fire and EMS coverage.
