Longtime educator Valeta Doorneweerd injured in SR 73 crash

Longtime Highland County schoolteacher and advocate for the homeless Valeta Doorneweerd was seriously injured in an auto accident Friday, June 15 along state Route 73, according to a report in the Middletown Journal.
The newspaper said Doorneweerd, 80, was flown by Air Care to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
In 2010, Doorneweerd of Hillsboro was named as a member of Cambridge Who's Who of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs.
Doorneweerd has served as the director of Grace House, a transitional residence facility in Hillsboro.
She also has served on the Highland County Homeless Shelter Board.
She was listed in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital.
The incident is being investigated by Sgt. Wally Stacy of Clearcreek Township Police Department, according to the Middletown Journal.
