On June 13 at approximately 1:08 p.m., Leona Chavez of Hillsboro was westbound on Catherine Street and was going to make a left turn into the alley at Rite Aid. Stephen Canter of Winchester was in the alley preparing to enter Catherine Street. Canter observed Chavez cutting sharply into the alley. Canter stopped as he was entering the roadway. Chavez struck Canter. No injuries were reported, and no citations were issued.
[[In-content Ad]]On Wednesday, June 13 at approximately 3:35 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a report of a two-car crash on North High Street near Springlake Avenue. Upon the officers' arrival, it was found that Joshua A. Blevins, 26, of Hillsboro was sitting stationary southbound at a red light near Springlake Ave. in a 2005 International tow truck. James J. Donnelly, 55, of Hillsboro failed to observe Blevins' vehicle stopped, striking the rear of it and causing non-functional damage to the front end of his 2006 GMC truck. No injuries were reported. James J. Donnelly was issued a citation for ACDA.
On Thursday, June 14 at approximately 5:21 p.m., the Hillsboro Police Department received a call from Diane Fox, Wal-Mart loss prevention, referencing a female in custody for shoplifting. Upon officers' arrival, it was found that Cynthia D. Moldovan, 43, of West Portsmouth had entered the store and removed several items totaling $214.73 from the displays and placed them in her cart. Moldovan then passed all points of checkout with the items in the cart and exited the store. Moldovan has been charged with theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and is scheduled to appear in Municipal Court Friday, June 15.
