The severe weather warning sirens are tested the first Wednesday of every month between noon and 2 p.m. unless there is threatening weather. If there is threatening weather on test day, the sirens will not be tested, so if you hear sirens, it will be an actual warning.

As of March 30, 2011, the city of Greenfield received notification that the official 2010 Federal Census results indicated that the municipality now had a population fewer than 5,000 people. Accordingly, the city has received a proclamation of village status with a population of 4,639 residents.

Southern State Community College recently provided a generous donation to the Hillsboro After Prom Committee.

Casey Patton of Hillsboro has been arrested in connection with an April 20 robbery at Larry's Party Shop in Hillsboro. Patton is currently being held in the Highland County Justice Center, according to a news release from the Hillsboro Police Department.

The Hillsboro Police Department is investigating an incident of theft by deception that occurred Easter Sunday at Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro. The HPD said Charles L. Miller arrived at the HDH emergency room seeking medical services. During the admitting process, the HPD said Miller provided a fictitious name, date of birth and home address.

ODOT crews are working to clear the route; however, the single-lane restriction is anticipated to be in effect through the overnight and Easter Sunday morning hours. Traffic is being maintained, and motorists are advised to exercise additional caution in the work zone.

The Highland County Board of Commissioners approved the following resolutions at the April 20 commission meeting.

More rain is in the forecast this weekend, as showers and thunderstorms are likely, off and on, Friday through Monday.

"I want to remind Ohio's restaurants and food service establishments not to give out any personal, private or secure information to anyone without first confirming the person's identity," ODH Director Ted Wymyslo, M.D., said. "Employees from the ODH food safety program will never come into an establish alone to conduct an inspection. They will always be with local inspectors."
