U.S. Route 52 is reduced to one lane in the Sugar Grove area, approximately four miles west of Portsmouth in Scioto County, due to a mudslide.
ODOT crews are working to clear the route; however, the single-lane restriction is anticipated to be in effect through the overnight and Easter Sunday morning hours. Traffic is being maintained, and motorists are advised to exercise additional caution in the work zone.
In addition, the following routes on the state highway system in the ODOT District 9 region are closed due to flooding:
S.R. 73 at S.R. 32 in Adams County to Rarden in Scioto County; S.R. 348 in Adams County; S.R. 650, seven miles north of U.S. 52 and Hanging Rock in Lawrence County; S.R. 217 at Linnville in Lawrence County; S.R. 93 at Pedro in Lawrence County; S.R. 141 at Wilgus in Lawrence County; S.R. 141 at Arabia and north of Arabia in Lawrence County; S.R. 124 at Idaho and at Latham in Pike County; S.R. 220 at River Road in Pike County; S.R. 139 at the Jackson County line in Scioto County; S.R. 140 at Eifort in Scioto County; S.R. 73/104 ramp at U.S. 52, west of Portsmouth, in Scioto County; S.R. 239 at West Portsmouth in Scioto County; and the Second Street bridge from S.R. 73/104 at Portsmouth.
Along with these closures, S.R. 650, just south of S.R. 522, and S.R. 141, north of Wilgus, in Lawrence County are reduced to one lane due to high water.
Additional restrictions and closures may be necessary as stream and river waters continue to rise. Rain and thunderstorms are in the forecast for southern Ohio on Easter Sunday and again Monday.
Motorists are reminded that crossing any closed route is strictly prohibited and to exercise additional caution when traveling over any route which remains open but where standing may be present.[[In-content Ad]]
