One hundred and nine Hillsboro Middle School 8th-graders traveled to Washington, D.C. on April 10-12.

Southern State Community College held its 2013 Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society induction ceremony Friday, April 12 at the Central Campus in Hillsboro. SSCC President Dr. Kevin Boys and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Ryan McCall presided over the acceptance of PTK candidates.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) will host his sixth annual college and university presidents conference in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, April 16 with more than 30 presidents from colleges and universities across Ohio, including seven from southwest Ohio. Presidents from Southern State Community College (Dr. Kevin Boys), Wright State University, Central State University, University of Cincinnati, Wilmington College (Dr. Jim Reynolds), Union Institute & University, and Edison Community College will attend.

The world is looking to American agriculture to feed an additional 2 billion people by 2050, and American agriculture is counting on college students to bear a significant burden of the brainpower needed to meet that challenge.

The Lynchburg-Clay FFA officers' team recently visited the Lynchburg-Clay Middle School to inform the eighth-graders of the activities and advantages that come with being an FFA member.

Lynchburg-Clay FFA Chapter recently received word that they are ranked in the top 10 Overall chapters in Ohio. There are nearly 300 chapters in Ohio. 



This prestigious ranking is the result of the National Chapter Award competition. Chapters are evaluated on nine FFA activities that are divided into three categories: Student Development, Chapter Development, and Community Development.

The 46th class of Southern State Community College’s practical nursing program was honored during a special recognition ceremony held March 28 on the college’s Central Campus in Hillsboro. Twenty-four students were recognized for completion of the college’s one-year certificate program.

Chatfield College in St. Martin will feature free horse and carriage rides at the 2013 Quilt and Craft Show on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the college. The free carriage rides are courtesy of First State Bank and will be provided by Jo-Nel Farms in Georgetown.
