  • Lady Lions advance to sectional semifinal
    In their 21st game of the season, the first of the postseason, the Fairfield Lady Lions perhaps played their best game of the year. Scoring at least 11 points in each quarter, the Lady Lions advanced to the sectional semifinals with a 52-36 win Monday against Franklin Furnace-Green.

  • Lady Lions bounce by Lady Greyhounds for SHL victory
    The basketball bounced the way of the Fairfield Lady Lions on Saturday, as they outlasted a couple last second shot attempts by the Manchester Lady Greyhounds, earning their fourth win of the season at 46-44.

Fairfield battled in the paint, made plays when they needed and led the game for the final 8:39, defending their home court for a 59-52 Southern Hills League win.

    The Fairfield boys varsity and JV basketball games, along with the girls varsity basketball game vs. Manchester have been postponed for Friday, Feb. 10. Games (a tripleheader) have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, with JV starting at 5 p.m.

    The Fairfield Lions had to play without their leading scorer for the second consecutive game, so they buckled down, and played defense that led to to a 52-49 non-league win over the Miami Trace Panthers at the "Panther Pit" on Tuesday.

    Listed are the scheduled first round sectional tournament games for Highland County girls basketball teams. The tournament draw was Sunday, Feb. 5 in Jackson.

    Twenty-four hours following a double-digit road loss, the Fairfield Lions were back on the court, and this time they didn't have a letdown. Fairfield played their second road game in consecutive days, defeating the Adena Warriors 38-31 Saturday night at AHS.

    The young Fairfield Lady Lion squad continue to improve, but offensive miscues against pressure continue to hurt their chances of getting back in the win column. That trend happened again on Monday as they were unable to break the pressure of the Blanchester Lady Wildcats, falling 62-30 at Grandle Gymnasium.
