The Fairfield Lions defended their Highland County Invitational championship, and sophomore Michael Mangus led the way as he was the winner of the 2011 Highland County Invitational Tuesday at Fairfield High School.

After it was all said and done, the West Union Dragons were crowned champions of the Southern Hills League golf season, winning the four-day event at Hilltop Golf Course.

The Fairfield Lions varsity cross-country team placed first of 12 teams in the Division III team race at the Bob Reall Cross Country Invitational.

The Fairfield Lady Lions have rebounded in a hurry. After losing their first Southern Hills League match on Tuesday, they came back and took sole possession of first place in the league with a four-game match victory Thursday, defeating the host Fayetteville Lady Rockets.

The Fairfield Lady Lions dropped their first Southern Hills League volleyball match of the season in three games on Tuesday night to the North Adams Green Devils at NAHS.
