Lions win 3rd straight SHAC championship

For the third consecutive year, the Fairfield boys high school cross-country team dominated the 10-school Southern Hills Athletic Conference, capturing the conference championship.
The individual title was won by Fairfield senior Michael Mangus with a time of 16:43, followed by Blake Hildebrant in third at 17:08.
Wyatt Evans placed fourth (17:16), and Trent Swisher finished in sixth with a time of 17:45.
Dustin Willey finished in 14th at 18:42, Mason Cain was 17th (18:55) and rounding out the top seven runners for FHS was Matthew Leach in 24th (20:24).
The Leesburg Fairfield boys finished with a low score of 28 to runner-up Lynchburg-Clay, who had 72 points.[[In-content Ad]]
Named to the All-SHAC Cross-Country Team were Mangus, Hildebrant, Evans, Swisher and Willey.
Head Coach Raymond Friend was named the SHAC cross-country Coach of the Year for the 10-school conference.
The Lions cross-country team has not lost a league contest in over three years.
The team will be looking to capture their third straight district championship when it competes at the University of Rio Grande, SE District Championship on Saturday, Oct. 19.
