FMS wins SHAC cross-country title

The Fairfield Middle School boys captured the Southern Hills Athletic Conference cross-country championship for the third consecutive year at Ripley, Saturday.
Like they have done all fall, the first four runners ran very strong for the Lions, finishing in the top four spots.
Leading the way was Noah Richmond finishing in first place with a time of 10:40, breaking a course record, followed by Matthew Mangus in second at 10:48. Austin Setty was third at 10:52, and Brandston Duffie placed fourth overall in 11:00.

Rounding out the top seven for FMS were Zach Bolender in eighth (11:35), Nick Price in 13th (11:56) and Tucker Ayres in 17th (12:18).
The Fairfield team finished with a low-score of 18 points (15 is a perfect score) to runner-up Sardinia Eastern Brown, who had 74 points.
For the first time in recent Fairfield history, the Middle School Lady Lions captured the title with a low-score of 21 to runner-up Manchester, who had 37 points.
For the second consecutive year, Grace Shope captured the title with a time of 12:27. She was followed by Teigan Thackston in second place (12:47), Dakota Haynes in sixth (13:33), Alexis Swisher in eighth (14:20) and Maggie Donahue in 13th at 16:09.
Megan Gragg placed 14th (16:20), Angel Moon came in 22nd (19:43) and Meadow Cunningham finished in 23rd at 20:02.
