The Highland County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual meeting and dinner on Thursday, May 9, at The Orpheum located in uptown Hillsboro. Over 250 guests attended the sold-out event “Our Bet Is On You” and enjoyed an evening of networking within the Highland County business community. 

Free airplane rides will be offered for kids age 8-17 during an event May 18 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Highland County Airport.

A “spirited debate” was held during a pretrial hearing in Highland County Juvenile Court Friday afternoon, as parties are at odds over whether a conflict exists with the prosecution of a juvenile in the custody of Highland County Children Services.

Wilmington College is offering area children with disabilities an opportunity to attend a summer Therapeutic Riding Camp that is designed to provide them with both a recreational and therapeutic experience. Last year’s inaugural camp was a great success.

Highland County commissioners David Daniels, Brad Roades and Terry Britton selected two projects for Community Development Block Grant consideration, met with insurance and Board of Elections representatives and agreed to vacate an alley during meetings and hearings Wednesday, May 8.

Local law enforcement executed search warrants and made multiple arrests in Hillsboro, Greenfield and Rocky Fork Lake areas Wednesday, May 9, one day after a Highland County grand jury handed down 15 indictments in connection with Highland County Task Force investigations.

Celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, the local New Way to Recovery Drug Court was highlighted Wednesday, May 8 as Highland County commissioners David Daniels, Brad Roades and Terry Britton proclaimed May as Treatment Court Month in Highland County. 

It was a photo finish all around at Highland County Democrats’ headquarters Saturday evening, as the group welcomed Congressional candidate Samantha Meadows at their Kentucky Derby Run for the Roses event.
