Leesburg man gets 10 years to life in child rape case

A Leesburg man was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years to life in prison after pleading guilty to raping a child.
As previously reported, Jonah Hunt, 21, was indicted on four first-degree felony counts of rape Tuesday, Jan. 2. The indictment was initially made secret.
According to court records, Hunt pleaded guilty May 8 to the first count of the indictment, which alleged that during an approximate four-month span in 2021, Hunt “did engage in sexual conduct” with a child under the age of 13. The remaining three charges were dismissed.
Highland County Common Pleas Court Judge Rocky Coss sentenced Hunt to 10 years to life in prison, with Hunt having 103 days of jail time credit. Hunt will additionally be classified as a tier III sex offender, requiring registration every 90 days for life.
Hunt was the second defendant from Leesburg in as many days to plead guilty to rape of a child and to be sentenced to 10 years to life in prison, in unrelated cases. For more, see: https://highlandcountypress.com/news/leesburg-man-sentenced-10-years-li….
